Our group is interested in text mining, information retrieval and sentiment analysis research areas. The group gets synergy from expertise in different domains, namely machine learning, data mining, and natural language processing.

Text mining usually involves the process of structuring the input text (usually parsing, along with the addition of some derived linguistic features), deriving patterns within the structured data, and finally evaluation and interpretation of the output.

Sentiment analysis or opinion mining refers to the application of natural language processing, computational linguistics, and text analytics to identify and extract subjective information in source materials.
